At Boolavogue as the sun was setting,
\n O`er the bright may meadows of Shelmalier,
\n A rebel hand set the heather blazing,
\n and brought the neighbours from far and near;<\/p>\n

Then Father Murphy from old Kilcormack
\n Spurred up the rock with a warning cry:
\n “Arm! Arm!” he cried, “For I`ve come to lead you,
\n for Ireland`s freedom we`ll fight or die!”<\/p>\n

He lead us on against the coming soldiers,
\n And the cowardly Yeomen we put to flight,
\n `Twas at the Harrow the boys of Wexford
\n Showed Bookey`s regiment how men could fight;<\/p>\n

Look out for hirelings, King George of England,
\n Search every kingdom where breathes a slave,
\n For Father Murphy of County Wexford,
\n Sweeps o`er the land like a mighty wave.<\/p>\n

We took Camolin and Enniscorthy,
\n And Wexford storming drove out our foes,
\n `Twas at Slieve Coilte our pikes were reeking
\n With the crimson blood of the beaten Yeos.<\/p>\n

At Tubberneering and Ballyellis,
\n Full many a Hessian lay in his gore,
\n Ah! Father Murphy had aid come over,
\n The Green Flag floated from shore to shore!<\/p>\n

At Vinegar Hill, O`er the pleasant Slaney,<\/p>\n

Our heroes vainly stood back to back,
\n and the Yeos at Tullow took Father Murphy,
\n and burnt his body upon a rack.<\/p>\n

God grant you glory, brave Father Murphy,
\n And open Heaven to all your men,
\n the cause that called you may call tomorrow,
