Rum, rum, rum.<br \/>\nIn and out. In and out. Ho!<br \/>\n&#8220;I will,&#8221; said the smith, and they went off together,<br \/>\nAlong to the young damsel&#8217;s forge they did go.<br \/>\nThey stripped to go to it, &#8217;twas hot work and hot weather.<br \/>\nThey kindled a fire and she soon made him blow. <\/p>\n<p>Her husband, she said, no good work could afford her.<br \/>\nHis strength and his tools were worn out long ago.<br \/>\nThe smith said &#8220;Well mine are in very good order,<br \/>\nAnd I am now ready my skill for to show.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>Red hot grew his iron, as both did desire,<br \/>\nAnd he was too wise not to strike while &#8217;twas so.<br \/>\nSaid she, &#8220;What I get I get out of the fire,<br \/>\nSo prithee, strike home and redouble the blow.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>Six times did his iron, by vigorous heating,<br \/>\nGrow soft in her forge in a minute or so,<br \/>\nBut as often was hardened, still beating and beating,<br \/>\nBut the more it was softened, it hardened more slow. <\/p>\n<p>When the smith rose to go, quoth the dame full of sorrow:<br \/>\n&#8220;Oh, what would I give could my husband do so.<br \/>\nGood lad with your hammer come hither tomorrow,<br \/>\nBut pray could you use it once more ere you go!&#8221;<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A lusty young smith at his vice stood a-filing.
