When I was a lad on the Emerald Isle

\nAbout the great dragons and monsters that be
\nThat swallow the ships when they sail on the sea
\nThough I was an artist with canvas and paints
\nI sailed with St. Brendan and his jolly saints
\nWe told the good people good-bye for a while<\/p>\n

We’d been on the ocean for ninety four days
\nWe came to the spot where the sea was ablaze

\nThen St. Brendan walked on the blistering waves
\nHe threw all the demons right back to their caves
\nAnd all of the saints wore a heavenly smile<\/p>\n

One night while the brethren were lying asleep
\nA great dragon came up from under the deep
\nHe thundered and lightened and made a great din
\nHe awakened St. Brendan and all of his men
\nThe dragon came up with his mouth opened wide
\nWe threw in a cross and the dragon died
\nWe skinned him and cooked and feasted awhile<\/p>\n

At last we came unto a beautiful land
\nWe all went ashore and we walked on the sand
\nWe took our long bows and killed a Zebu
\nWe roasted it up and had hot barbecue
\nAnd after awhile we were singing a song
\nWe noticed the island was moving along
\nWe ate and we drank and we rode in high style<\/p>\n

Now Brendan said boys it is much to my wish
\nWe ride on the back of the world’s biggest fish
\nHold fast to the rope that is pulling the ship
\nWe’ll need it someday if this fish take a dip
\nWe sailed every ocean we sailed every sea
