sweet<br \/>\nShe was very proud of every one of her hundred feet<br \/>\nEarly every morning, her neighbours came to glance<br \/>\nShe always entertained them with a beautiful little dance.<\/p>\n<p>Chorus<br \/>\nAs leg number 94 gave 95 a shunt<br \/>\nLegs number 1 and 2 were twisted out in front<br \/>\nLegs number 9 and 10 came wriggling up the side<br \/>\n73 and 74 were doing the Palais glide.<\/p>\n<p>Now her neighbour, Jenny Longlegs, with jealousy was mad<br \/>\nShe went out and bought herself a pencil and a pad<br \/>\nShe came to look one morning, she made a careful note<br \/>\nOf every step the centipede made and this is what she wrote:<\/p>\n<p>Chorus<\/p>\n<p>Now with her exact notations, little Jenny Longlegs tried<br \/>\nTo dance just like the centipede, she failed and nearly cried<br \/>\nShe grabbed hold of the centipede, and said, &#8220;Now have a look,<br \/>\nShow me how to do this dance I&#8217;ve written in my book.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The centipede said, &#8220;Do I do that?&#8221; tried to demonstrate<br \/>\nShe hadn&#8217;t thought it out before, and didn&#8217;t do too great<br \/>\nHer hundred feet got twisted and she wound up in a tangle<br \/>\nShe fractured 14 kneecaps, 7 shinbones and an ankle.<\/p>\n<p>Chorus<br \/>\nAs legs number 1 and 2 were tied with 3 and 4<br \/>\nLegs number 5 and 6 were cancelled on the floor<br \/>\nLeg number 17 was attacked by number 10<br \/>\n98 and 99 will never dance again.<\/p>\n<p>Oh, the wee Kirkcudbright Centipede she suffered in terrible pain<br \/>\nAnd all the bugs were very surprised the day she danced again<br \/>\nAnd now she tells her neighbours, anyone who comes to see,<br \/>\n&#8220;Never try an explanation of what comes
